The Prior Lake synchronized swimming team showed some improvement from its first figures meet to its second one.
The Lakers competed against seven-time defending state Wayzata and Edina in their first home competition of the season April 10 with both the Trojans and the Hornets winning the head-to-head matchup.
"It was a very good meet," said Lakers coach Katy Bohnsack. "We placed significantly higher against Wayzata than our first meet against them. It shows great progress. Edina has a very large program and we were still able to place a swimmer in the top seven.
"(Senior) Kendra Wagner made the most progress by getting higher scores on her ballet leg and her walkover front," added Bohnsack. "As a team, we are very proud of our progress."
Wagner had the 19th-best score between the three teams with a 57.991. Junior Jessica Shorba was 30th overall (57.219).
Other scores for the Lakers: senior Jessica Gillies (56.442), sophomore Haley Wagner (54.407), eighth-grader Claire Benson (53.539), ninth-grader Makenzee Elder (52.311), senior Julia Andrus (52.087), ninth-grader Emerson Thomos (51.903) and sophomore Willow Rivera (47.442).
The Lakers have one more figures meet before they start the routines season. That's at St. Louis Park April 17 at 4 p.m.
The first routines meet is April 24 at home versus Edina and Eden Prairie at 7 p.m.
