Galloway, Dols Lead The Way

Trenton Galloway had a breakthrough season on the cross-country trails last fall.

So far, the sophomore is off to a strong start this spring for the Prior Lake boys track team.

Galloway won the 3,200 meters for the Lakers at the Lakeville North Mega Meet April 12 with a time of 9:50.99, helping Prior Lake to a fourth-place finish in the team standings with 61 points.

Brainerd won with 112.5 points, followed by Lakeville North (74.5) and New Prague (72). Totino Grace was fifth (58) in the 15-team field, followed by River Falls (56) and Spring Lake Park (48.5).

Galloway finished 21st at state at the Class AA state cross country meet last fall in his first-career appearance.

Meanwhile, junior Eric Dols continues to shine in the throws for Prior Lake. Last year, he qualified for state in both the shot put and the discus and finished ninth.

Dols won the discus at the mega meet with a toss of 159-10 and was third in the shot put (49-8 1/4). Senior Garrett Bemebek had a strong showing in the 800 taking second (2:01.83), while junior Ben Garrison was seventh (2:09.64) in that event.

Junior Tom Dobberpuhl led the Lakers in the hurdles. He was fifth in both the 110 (17.35) and 300 (44.11). Senior Carter Allenson was seventh in the 300 hurdles (44.77).

Senior Sean O'Neil also had a top-five finish, taking fifth in the pole vault with a height of 11.6. Seniors Wyatt Scheu and Blake Tornes each had two top-10 showings. Scheu was eighth in the 100 (11.82) and sixth in the 400 (54.06), while Tornes was eighth in the 400 (54.39) and 10th in the triple jump (37-1 1/2).

Ninth-grader Colin Dwyer was seventh in the 1,600 (4:42.43) and sophomore Logan Petersmeyer was 10th in the long jump (18-9- 1/2).

The Lakers' top relay was the 4x800 team of ninth-graders Jeremy Schlitz, Noah Torvik and Owen Kilanowski and sophomore Dan Sandell, which was seventh (9:10.92).

The 4x100 team of Petersmeyer and sophomores Jake Simonson and Marshall Fischer and Luke Bednarek was eighth (46.52), as was the 4x400 team of Dobberpuhl, seniors John Boyle, Jordan Golla and junior Stefan Prince (3:46.92).

The Lakers are back on the track April 17 at the Shakopee Relays at 3:30 p.m.
