Soaring Above The Rest Of The Field

The Prior Lake girls track team soared above the field at Lakeville North Mega Meet April 12.

The Lakers scored 180 points, nearly 100 better than runner-up Forest Lake (84.5). River Falls was a distant third (68) in the 15-team field, followed by Elk River (56), New Prague (53) and Totino Grace (48).

The Lakers won the 4x200 relay and was runner-up in two others. Sophomore Ella Francis also had a huge meet. She won the long jump and triple jump with leaps 15-5 1/2 and 34-1 1/4, respectively, and was second in the pole vault (10-0).

Prior Lake went one-two in the high jump with ninth-grader Madi Scholl winning (5-4), followed by senior Alex Collins (5-0).

Senior Lydia Houle was also a winner, taking the 300 hurdles (47.58), while senior Marianna Kramer won the pole vault (10-6).

The 4x200 team of Collins and seniors Sabrina Hille, Leah Amundson and Bolade Jinadu was a winner (1:48.20). The 4x100 team of sophomores Nicole Hoepner and Eva Passek and eighth-grader Kristyn Arends and Alisa Robbins was second (52.98), as was the 4x400 team of Houle, senior Megan Lesmeister and sophomores Olivia Schroeder and Olivia Theilen (4:10.76).

The 4x800 team of Scholl, Schroeder, senior Mariah Hovick and sophomore Abi Ruelle was fourth (10:28.96).

Robbins was also second in the 100 (13.40), as was Jinadu in the 200 (26.77). Collins was runner-up in the 100 hurdles (16.94), the same for senior Mackenzie Schell in the 1,600 (5:14.56).

Taking third: senior Macy Violett in the 400 (1:01.94) and Hille in the 200 (27.0)

Other top-10 finishes: senior Sarah Cox in the 100 hurdles (18.33), Jinadu in the 100 (5th, 13.58), Hille in the 100 (6th, 13.65), Lesmeister in the 300 hurdles (5th, 50.74), senior Bailey Sernett in the 300 hurdles (6th, 51.22), senior Tessa Rykken in the 3,200 (4th, 11:57.15), Amundson in the 400 (5th, 1:02.83), junior Areonna Zemaitis in the long jump (6th, 14-4) and senior Courtney Spang in the pole vault (6th, 9-0).

Prior Lake will compete in the Irish Invitational April 15 and the Farmington Invitational April 17. Both start at 4 p.m.
