The Prior Lake baseball team used the long ball to knock off the No. 5-ranked team in the state.

Senior Austin Truso belted a home run to left in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Lakers a 3-2 South Suburban Conference home win over Burnsville April 21.

The Lakers improved to 2-3 overall (2-2 in the SSC), while the Blaze dropped to 3-1 overall (3-1 in league play).

Senior Anthony Gabbard hurled a complete game for the Lakers, allowing two earned runs on six hits, while fanning four. He allowed two runs in the top of the second inning when Blaze senior Eric Hanson belted a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lakers got both of those runs back on senior Zac Repinski's two-run shot to left off Blaze sophomore starter Kyle Ferderer, who also threw a complete game, allowing six hits and three runs, while striking out four.

Senior Tyler Edwards finished 3 for 3 for the Lakers, while Repinski was 2 for 3. Senior Zach Smith had a double and a run scored for the Blaze.

Prior Lake is back on the diamond April 22 at home versus Eagan in SSC action at 4:15 p.m.

The Blaze will play host to No. 2 Lakeville North in a rematch of last year's Section 3AAA final at Alimagnet Fields at 4:15 p.m.

Other SSC games for the Lakers: at Eastview (April 23) and home to Bloomington Kennedy (April 24). For the Blaze: at home to Apple Valley (April 23) and Eastview (April 24).
