Laker Trap Shooting Club Takes Second

Prior Lake’s Lakers Trap Shooting Club took 2nd Place in Class AAAA on Monday in Alexandria, MN at the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League (MSHSCTL) 2014 State Championship. Prior Lake finished with a top 5 score of 484 to 1st Place St Michael-Albertville with a score of 494. Delano was 3rd with 479.

 

The near perfect shooting weather produced an 11 shot improvement over the 2013 Championship. The top 5 Lakers were Senior Captain Haleigh Lewis – 99, sophomore Jack Engels – 97, freshman Chris Curry – 97, 8th grader Blake Conrad – 96, Senior Captain Gavin Willox – 95, & freshman Sam Schafer – 95.

 

Senior Captain Haliegh Lewis was also the top female shooter for Class AAAA breaking a 3 way 99 tie with a 98 target run. 

 

The team overall had an impressive day putting up 26 25 straights, 3 50 straights and 1 75 straight.

 

Monday’s competition was part of the MSHSCTL 5 day State Championship in Alexandria. Prior Lake has now qualified both as a team and individual competition for the first ever Minnesota State High School League Trap Shooting Tournament June 14th at the Minneapolis Gun Club.
