Aaron Wiederhoeft went into the season regarded as one of the top goalies in the state.

And he didn't disappoint this spring, helping lead the Prior Lake boys lacrosse team to a program-best 13 wins. And for that, Wiederhoeft was named Mr. Goalie by the Minnesota State High School Boys Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Wiederhoeft was one of two goalies up for the award. The other was Eden Prairie's Max Fahey.

Wiederhoeft will play Division II lacrosse next year at Lindenwood University in Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, Connor Yepsen of Rosemount was named Mr. Lacrosse for the season. Yepsen scored the game-winning goal against Prior Lake with 13 seconds left for an 11-10 win in the Section 3 title game June 5.

Wiederheoft was a three-year starter for the Lakers. He's helped the program win 26 games over the past three seasons, including a 13-3 mark this spring (7-2 in the South Suburban Conference).

Prior Lake held the No. 1 ranking for a couple of weeks this spring and went into the playoffs ranked No. 2 in the state behind Rosemount.

Wiederhoeft has saved more than 55 percent his shots in his career. He had back-to-back 15-save games this past season in one-goal wins over Eastview and Edina. He also had a season-best 18 saves in a one-goal win over Burnsville in conference play.

The Lakers were 6-2 in one-goal wins this season and Wiederheoft was a big reason for it.
