The Prior Lake girls swimming team cruised to victory in the South Suburban Conference waters Sept. 11.
The Lakers won 11 of 12 events, including all three relays, in a 101-77 home victory over Shakopee. Prior Lake improved to 2-2 overall in duals and 2-1 in the SSC.
The Lakers are back in the pool Sept. 13 in its own invite at 11 a.m. Teams in the field include: Marshall, St. Peter, Simley, Austin, Shakopee and Mankato West.
The Lakers are back in SSC dual action Sept. 18 at Eastview at 6 p.m.
In beating Shakopee, the Lakers' winning relays included the 200 medley team of juniors Sally Stark and Lauren Harris, senior Lindsey Anderson, ninth-grader Madison Shimek (1:57.48), the 200 freestyle team of juniors Alex Spinner, Maggie Andersen and Sara Heile and senior Rachel Kleist (1:48.01) and the 400 freestyle team of Kleist, eighth-grader Skylar Welle, sophomore Elizabeth Heile and senior Grace Halpenny (4:02.38).
Seven Lakers won individual events - Harris in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.61), Shimek in 100 backstroke (1:02.11), Stark in the 100 freestyle (57.91), junior Jamie Kimble in diving (214.95 points), Spinner in the 50 freestyle (26.02), Welle in the 100 butterfly (1:05.31), Andersen in the 200 individual medley (2:27.30) and sophomore Claudia Mahoney in the 200 freestyle (2:05.95).
Individual runner-up finishes for Prior Lake went to: eighth-grader Maddy Mjoen in the 200 individual medley (2:31.98), Elizabeth Heile in the 50 freestyle (27.60) and 100 backstroke (1:08.77), junior Brooke Manfred in diving (182.25), ninth-grader Madeline Mackin in the 100 butterfly (1:11.72) and junior Emma Halpenny in the 500 freestyle (6:07.74).
