The Prior Lake girls soccer team will get another shot at the Section 2AA title.

The second-seeded Lakers cruised to a 3-0 home win over third-seeded Edina in the semifinals Oct. 11. All three Prior Lake goals came in the second half.

The Lakers (13-4-1) overall will play at top-seeded Eden Prairie (14-2-1) in the title game Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. It's a rematch of last year's final with the Eagles pulling out a 1-0 road win.

Eden Prairie, ranked No. 5 in the final Class 2A poll, also ended Prior Lake's season in 2012 in the section semifinals, winning 1-0. And the two teams also met back on Sept. 27 with Eden Prairie winning that game 1-0 at home.

Prior Lake's last win over Eden Prairie was in the regular season last year, a  2-1 home victory. The two teams have played six times since 2011 with Eagles winning five games, including four 1-0 wins.

So expect a tight, one-goal battle in the title game.

Meanwhile, in the semifinals, the Lakers took over the game early in the second half on a goal from senior Kaija Ornes with senior Emily Peterson assisting.

The Lakers made it 2-0 when senior Katie Ward found the back of the net with Ornes getting the assist. Allie Bollinger put Edina away when scored on a shot off the crossbar from Lindsey Harris.

Senior Jenna Stock earned the shutout in goal, making her 18th straight start in net for the Lakers.

After an 8-0 start to open the season, the Lakers climbed to No. 1 in the state ranking. But midway through the year, Prior Lake hit a rough patch, enduring an 0-3-1 stretch and finishing the regular season 3-4-1 in its last eight games.

Prior Lake, ranked No. 9 going into the playoffs, seemed to get some momentum back in its final regular season game. It earned a 2-1 South Suburban Conference win over No. 3 Eastview and then followed with the two playoff wins, including 8-1 over Bloomington Jefferson in the section quarterfinals.
