The Prior Lake girls swimming team couldn't catch Lakeville North in the Section 2AA True Team meet Oct. 11.

It was the same for the Lakers in South Suburban Conference dual action Oct. 14. The No. 9-ranked Panthers won all three relays en route to a 101.5 to 84.5 home win.

Prior Lake dropped to 6-2 in the SSC (6-3 overall) and will close out the regular season Oct. 21 at Farmington in league action at 6 p.m.

At the section true team, Lakeville North beat the Lakers by 36 points to win the title and earn a berth into the Class AA State True Team.

The eight section champions and four wildcard winners earned state spots. The wildcard teams were Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Centennial and Mounds View.

Last year, the Lakers finished 10th at the state true team.

Meanwhile, in the dual loss to Lakeville North, junior Lauren Harris had two of the five Laker wins. She won the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.02 and the 100 backstroke (1:01.43).

Ninth-grader Madison Shimek won the 200 freestyle (1:58.99) and junior Maggie Andersen was tops in the 500 freestyle (5:32.24). Junior Jamie Kimble claimed the diving (202.80 points).

Individual second-place finishes for Prior Lake went to: junior Alex Spinner in the 200 individual medley (2:19.26), eighth-grader Skylar Welle in the 50 freestyle (26.51) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.71), junior Brooke Manfred in diving (171.30) and Shimek in the 100 freestyle (54.64).

The Lakers were second in all three relays. The 200 medley team included Welle, Harris, Spinner and junior Sally Stark (1:53.63), while the 200 freestyle team consisted of Shimek, Andersen, Welle and senior Rachel Kleist (1:45.81) and the 400 freestyle team included Harris, Spinner, Shimek and Andersen (3:42.84).

The Section 2AA meet is set for Nov. 5 (prelims) and No. 7 (finals), while the diving is Nov. 6. All three days are at Hidden Oaks Middle School.
