Seven Lakers Ink Letters of Intent

Seven seniors from Prior Lake High School signed their national letters of intent Nov. 12 in a ceremony at the high school.

Cullen Sowder will play Division I lacrosse at Ohio State University. Rylee Streifel will wrestle at the Division I level at the University of Minnesota.

Shaye Barton will play Division I softball at Indiana State University, while Taylor Roddie will play at the Division II level at Minnesota State University-Moorhead.

Nick Vaage will play Division I baseball at the University of Memphis.

Ryan Wangler will compete in Division I men's gymnastics at the University of Minnesota. There is no gymnastics for boys in high school. Madi Carlisle will competition cheer at Waldorf College. She's in her fourth year on the Prior Lake cheer squad.

Sowder will be in his fourth varsity season for the Prior Lake boys lacrosse team this spring. He helped the Lakers' to a program-best 13-3 record last season.

Streifel is a two-time state entrant in the Class 3A individual wrestling tournament, including a third-place finish last year with a 46-4 record. He was 35-12 as a sophomore competing at state at 182 pounds.

Barton joined the Lakers varsity midway through her eighth-grade season. She helped the softball program finish second at state in 2012. Barton was a third-team, all-state selection last year. Roddie will be entering her third varsity season this spring and has played in the outfield and has pitched.

Vaage helped the Lakers to a 14-10 record on the diamond last spring and was one of the team's top hitters. The outfielder is expected to be one of Prior Lake's top players again this spring.
