Lakers Fall Short on SSC Road

The Prior Lake girls basketball team fell just short of a second straight win Jan. 20.

Eighth-ranked Lakeville North held on for a 62-59 South Suburban Conference home win over the Lakers. It was Prior Lake's third loss in four games.

The Lakers (8-7 overall, 2-5 in the SSC) went into the game off a 60-44 home win over Burnsville Jan. 23. 

Meanwhile, Lakeville North led the Lakers 27-19 at the break and then held on in the final 18 minutes. Sophomore Riley Wheatcraft led the Prior Lake with 18 points.

Senior Sam McElwain finished with 16, while senior Shaye Barton scored 10.

Others scoring: sophomore Brooke Glass (6), eighth-grader McKenna Hofschild (5) and junior Michelle Lother (4).

Prior Lake is back on the court Jan. 23 at home versus Apple Valley and then is on the road at Rosemount Jan. 27. Both SSC game start at 7 p.m.

The Lakers are back home to face No. 9 Shakopee Jan. 30, before playing at Farmington Feb. 3. Both league games also start at 7 p.m.
