strong finish in the SSC pool

The Prior Lake boys swimming team capped off another strong season in the South Suburban Conference Feb. 10.

The No. 8-ranked Lakers cruised to a 100-86 home win over Farmington to finish 8-1 in league duals.

Prior Lake went into the dual off an 102-82 victory at Apple Valley Feb. 6 in SSC action.

Up next for the Lakers is the Section 3AA meet, which starts Feb. 25 with the prelims and finishes Feb. 27 with the finals. Diving is Feb. 26. The venue for all three is Hidden Oaks Middle School.

The Lakers are the defending champions. Other teams in the field are: No. 10 Lakeville South, Lakeville North, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eastview and Rosemount.

In the win over Farmington, the Lakers swept all three relays.

Juniors Marshall Heskin, Craig Robrock, Jens Lund and Alex Leff teamed up to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.49. Senior Matt Anderson, ninth-grader Henry Skinner, Heskin and Leff won the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.97), while Skinner, Robrock, sophomore Colin Dwyer and junior Jack Dessler captured the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.63).

Robrock won two individual events for the Lakers, taking the 100 backstroke (57.86) and the 100 butterfly (56.86).

Skinner won the 200 freestyle (1:56.95), while Heskin was tops in the 100 freestyle (51.16) and Dwyer won the 50 freestyle (23.90).

Individual runner-up finishes went to: Dwyer in the 500 freestyle (5:06.06), Lund in the 50 freestyle (24.56), Leff in the 200 individual medley (2:09.21), sophomore Braeden Malotky in the 200 freestyle (1:57.75) and junior Thien Ho in diving (140.45 points).

Prior Lake finished one-two in the 200 freestyle relay with the runner-up team being eighth-grader Sean Dwyer, senior Caleb Torvik, junior Jonas Lemke and Malotky (1:37.82).

Against Apple Valley, Robrock and Heskin each won twice. Heskin claimed the 200 freestyle (1:54.59) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.07), while Robrock was tops in the 50 freestyle (23.39) and 100 freestyle (50.74).

Leff won the 200 individual medley (2:15.28), while Sean Dwyer captured the 100 backstroke (1:00.86) and Dessler won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.00).

The 200 freestyle team of Dessler, Leff, Anderson and Heskin was also victorious (1:32.72). The Lakers went one-two in the 400 freestyle relay with team of Colin Dwyer, Leff, Heskin and Robrock winning (3:31.10) and team foursome of Torvik, Anderson, Malotky and Lemke taking second (3:39.18).

Leff, Lund, Robrock and Anderson were second in the 200 individual medley (1:44.45).

Other individual second-place finishes for the Lakers: Torvik in the 200 freestyle (1:56.58), Lund in the 200 individual medley (2:16.00), Colin Dwyer in the 500 freestyle (5:13.64) and Malotky in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.43).
