Kailey Dobransky picked a good time for a career-best all-around score.

The sophomore on the Prior Lake gymnastics team finished 11th at the Class 2A state individual tournament Feb 21 at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion with a score of 37.200.

It was Dobransky's second straight state appearance in the overall. Last year, she finished 17th in the all-around with a score of 36.925. She was 15th on the balance beam (9.225) and 25th on the uneven bars (8.925).

Dobransky also competed on the balance and bars this year, finishing 15th in both with scores of 9.2 in each event. Her vault score for the all-around was 9.5 and her mark on the floor exercise was 9.3.

Northfield senior Bailey DuPay won the all-around title for a third straight year with a score of 39.050. Roseville won the team title the day before.

Dobransky was competing at state for a third straight year. She was part of the Lakers' Section 2AA winning team in 2013. This year's team finished third at sections.

Dobransky earned a state spot by taking second in the all-around at sections with a score of 36.500. She won the bars (9.4) and was fourth on the beam (8.75). The top-four finishes in the all-around and in the four events make state from the eight sections.

Dobransky missed part of this season with a knee injury. She was out much of January, but was able to get back to compete in the final two South Suburban Conference duals to get ready for sections.

At state in 2013, Dobransky had scores of 9.225 on the vault, 8.750 on the uneven bars, 8.425 on the balance beam and 8.525 on the floor to help the Lakers finish seventh with a score of 141.025. She also competed in the individual competition on the bars that year, finishing 26th (8.825).
