The Prior Lake softball team continues to bash the ball around the diamond.

Junior Justus Perry went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Lakers to a 9-5 South Suburban Conference road win at Eagan April 13.

Prior Lake improved to 2-0 in the SSC and has scored 34 runs in its impressive 3-0 start.

The Lakers spotted Eagan a 3-0 lead after one inning of play and was down 5-3 going into the fifth inning. But the Lakers' bats came alive as the team scored two runs in each of the last three innings.

Perry's homer was a two-run shot in the third inning. It was her second of the year.

Senior Deanna Wibbens also had a strong day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and and two runs scored. Junior Caitlin Stone was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while senior Shaye Barton also doubled and senior Taylor Roddie had an RBI.

Stone earned the pitching win, tossing a complete game. She allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits, while fanning three.

Prior Lake is back in action April 15 at home versus Eastview in SSC action at 4:15 p.m. The Lightning, along with Rosemount and the Lakers, are the favorites in the conference.

The Lakers will stay home April 16 to take on Minnetonka in a battle of Section 2AAA foes at 4:15 p.m.

Prior Lake will play in the Mankato East Invitational April 17-18, opening up against Winona Cotter in the quarterfinals at Caswell Park at 5 p.m.

The field is a strong one, which includes Class 2A power Kasson-Mantorville, the defending state champs in 2A.
