Falling short on SSC road

The Prior Lake baseball team dropped its second straight one-run game April 13.

The Lakers managed just four hits in a 5-4 South Suburban Conference loss at Apple Valley. It was Prior Lake's third straight defeat to fall to 1-3 on the season (1-2 in the SSC).

Prior Lake went into the game falling 5-4 at No. 2-ranked Eden Prairie April 10 and 4-1 at home in league action to No. 1 Lakeville North April 8.

Apple Valley led 2-0 after two innings and 3-1 after three complete. 

Senior Nick Vaage had two of the Lakers' four hits, finishing 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Senior Taylor Widgen also had two RBIs, finishing 1 for 4. Junior Lucas Pumper had the team's other hit.

Junior Jimmy Larson took the loss on the mound, working 3 1/3 innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits. Junior Lawson Zenner worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings, fanning two.

The Lakers are back on the field April 15 taking on Rosemount at home in SSC action. Prior Lake is also home to No. 5 Minnetonka in non-league play April 16. Both games start at 4:15 p.m.

The Lakers return to SSC action April 20 at home versus Lakeville South at 4:15 p.m.
