The Prior Lake girls tennis team easily took down a Section 2AA foe Sept. 15.

The No. 5-ranked Lakers dominated in singles, winning all four matches in straight sets, in a 5-2 home win over Eden Prairie. The Lakers improved to 8-2 on the season.

Prior Lake is back on the court Sept. 19 at Apple Valley and will stay on the road Sept. 21 to take on Rosemount in a pair of South Suburban Conference matches at 3:45 p.m.

The Lakers (5-0 in the SSC) get another section squad Sept. 22, playing at No. 9 Minnetonka at 4 p.m. Prior Lake has beaten the Skippers in the Section 2AA title match the last two years.

Prior Lake is at Benilde-St. Margaret's Sept. 25 in non-league play at 4:15 p.m., before ending the regular season with two SSC matches at home. The first is against Lakeville North Sept. 26 at 3:45 p.m., and the last one is against Eagan Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.

Last year, Eagan ended the Lakers' string of five straight SSC titles and also Prior Lake's string of 50 straight conference wins. The Wildcats were the state runner-up last year, while Lakers took fifth at state in their fifth straight appearance.

Meanwhile, in beating Eden Prairie, senior Taylor Jackson rolled at No. 1 singles for Lakers (6-0, 6-2), while junior Charlotte Bowles won at the No. 2 spot (6-3, 6-0). Junior Katherine Wu cruised at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3), while junior Madeline Roess won at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2).

In doubles, senior Lindsey Henderson and sophomore Nic Keller won at the top spot for the Lakers (6-4, 6-2).
