The Prior Lake girls soccer team broke through for its first South Suburban Conference win.

Senior Leah Pavlish earned the shutout, while sophomore Emma Antonoplos scored the game's lone goal in a 1-0 home victory over Lakeville North Sept. 14.

Prior Lake snapped a four-game losing skid, improving to 2-5 overall (1-2 in the SSC). The Lakers are back on the field Sept. 16 at Chaska in a battle of Section 2AA foes at 1 p.m.

Prior Lake returns to SSC action Sept. 19 at Farmington at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the win over Lakeville North, Antonoplos scored her first goal of the season, while senior Hannah Caldwell had the assist, her third.

Lakeville North applied a lot of pressure late in the game trying to tie things up. The Panthers had a free kick from about 25 yards out with less than minute to play. The shot was high and Pavlish was able to knock it over the top of the net with a leaping save.

The Lakers had just one SSC win last year in coach Blair Rummel's first season as coach, finishing 1-7-1 overall in league play.

Following the game at Farmington, Prior Lake returns home Sept. 21 to take on Shakopee in SSC action at 7:30 p.m. The Sabers are also a Section 2AA foe.
