Offensive Surge Continues

The Prior Lake boys soccer team is on a roll offensively.

The Lakers have scored 17 goals in their last three games, including a 4-0 South Suburban Conference home win over Rosemount Sept. 12. Senior Devan DiGrado led the way with a goal and an assist, while senior Ethan Derks made four saves for the shutout.

Prior Lake (4-2 overall, 2-0 in the SSC) is back on the field Sept. 14 at home versus Lakeville North at 5 p.m. The Panthers won the SSC crown last year with an 8-0-1 mark, while the Lakers were second (7-1-1).

In the win over Rosemount, the Lakers scored two goals in each half. Seniors Logan Weller and Daniel Wee and junior Owen Antonoplos also had goals, while juniors Sam Anderson and Jake Leonard and senior Jake Ornes each had assists.

Through six games, Weller leads the Lakers with seven goals. DiGrado has tallied four goals and two assists, while Leonard has three goals and two assists and Wee has two goals and two assists. Senior Jordi Herrera-Herrera has a goal and three assists, while Antonoplos has chipped in a goal and two assists.

Derks has a 0.98 goals-against average, starting all six games in net.

The Lakers are at Chaska Sept. 16 in a battle of Section 2AA foes at 11 a.m., before returning to SSC action Sept. 19 at Farmington at 7 p.m.
