The Prior Lake girls tennis team ruled the doubles courts in Section 2AA play Oct. 17.

The Lakers will send both of their doubles teams to state with senior Lindsey Henderson and sophomore Nic Keller winning crown in three sets at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter over their two teammates, senior Taylor Jackson and junior Charlotte Bowles (7-6, 3-6, 6-1).

The Class AA state doubles tournament is Oct. 26-27 at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Last year, Jackson won the title with former teammate, Savanna Crowell. Henderson and Keller also competed at state last year in doubles, but lost both of their matches.

Overall, the Lakers went a combined 12-2 in singles and doubles play at sections, which doesn't include the loss between their two doubles teams in the final.

Henderson and Keller went 5-0 with their first four wins in straight sets. They rolled in the first three rounds Oct. 14, beating Joslin Zaugg and Noelle Slezak of Chaska (6-2, 6-1), Leah Richter and Jamie Goldberg of Mound Westonka (injury default) and Lilly Fredericks and Brooke Lewis of Eden Prairie (6-4, 6-0).

In the semifinals, Keller and Henderson downed Sydney Douglas and Tegan Townsend of Mankato West (6-2, 6-0).

Meanwhile, Jackson and Bowles also won their first four matches in straight sets. In the first three rounds, they knocked off Carter Phillips and Makenzie Anderson of Mound Westonka (6-0, 6-0), Ally Loiselle and Jamie Lindstrom of Shakopee (6-0, 6-2) and Bella Bot and Katie Wegrecki of Minnetonka (6-2, 6-4).

In the semifinals, Jackson and Bowles cruised past Haley Knorr abd Britta Johnson of Hutchinson (6-0, 6-1).

After falling in the title match, Jackson and Bowles had to win a true-second match against Douglas and Townsend to qualify for state, doing so in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).

In singles play, juniors Katherine Wu and Madeline Roess competed for the Lakers.

Wu won her first two matches, beating Delaney Jossart of Shakopee (6-0, 6-0) and Grey Randle of Eden Prairie (6-2, 6-2) in the first two rounds, before falling in three sets to Emily Jurgens of Minnetonka (6-7, 6-2, 6-3).

Roess won her first match over Cambelle Jossart of Shakopee (6-1, 6-0), before falling to Alex Welty of Mound Westonka (6-2, 7-5).
