The Prior Lake boys basketball team has reeled off six straight wins after its loss to open the season.

Sophomore Dawson Garcia pumped in a game-high 25 points to lead the Lakers to a 58-49 win at Bloomington Jefferson Jan. 6 in a battle of Section 2AAAA foes.

Garcia scored 30 points in Prior Lake's 75-69 win at Eastview Jan. 4 in South Suburban Conference play.

The Lakers (6-1 overall) have opened the league season 2-0 and is back on the SSC court for back-to-back home games — Jan. 9 against Eagan and Jan. 11 versus Burnsville. Both start at 7 p.m.

Prior Lake takes on Delano, ranked No. 9 in Class 3A, at home Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.

The Lakers lost their season opener to Minnetonka (73-60), but have recovered fast, including going 3-0 in the Mike Miller Classic in South Dakota Dec. 28-30. Garcia has led the way, averaging 23.9 points through the first seven games.

In beating Jefferson, it was a tight game at the break with the Lakers up 31-30. Prior Lake turned up its defense in the second half, holding the Jaguars to just 19 points.

Junior Robert Jones finished with 15 points for the Lakers, while senior Sam Nissen scored five. Jones is averaging 13.4 points through seven games.

Against Eastview, Jones scored 20 points, while Nissen was also in double figures with 10. Junior Jackyse Jacox scored nine points, while senior Nate Morse scored six.

The Lakers led 39-35 at the break and built to lead to more than 10 points in the second half, before the Lightning tried to rally late in the game.

Following the Delano game, the Lakers' schedule gets a little tougher with SSC games at No. 3 Lakeville North Jan. 16 and home to No. 5 Apple Valley Jan. 19.
