The Prior Lake gymnastics team seems well prepared for the postseason.

The Lakers earned a season-high score of 143.4 in its final meet of the season Feb. 5, falling to Eagan in South Suburban Conference action. The Wildcats barely edged Prior Lake with a 143.425 total.

"We had a really good meet, but not a perfect meet," Lakers coach Barb Kass sad. "We scored our highest score for the season so far and were really close to the school record, but we can still do better. We had falls on all of the events, but we also had some really great routines to balance them out."

Sophomore Seleena Wallace and Josie Baldzicki competed in the all-around for the Lakers, finishing second and fourth with scores of 35.525 and 34.625, respectively.

Eighth-grader Kyra Hansen won the uneven bars for the Lakers with a 9.15, while Wallace won the vault (9.275).

Eighth-grader Madi Mathison was second on the bars (9.15), while Baldzicki was fourth (8.65), senior Kaylie Kizer was fifth (8.55) and Wallace was eighth (8.25).

On the beam, Kizer was second (9.275), followed by Mathison in third (9.225), Hansen in third (9.175), Wallace in seventh (8.425) and Baldzicki in 10th (8.125).

On the floor exercise, Wallace led the Lakers taking second (9.575). Hansen took fourth (9.5), followed by Kizer in sixth (9.0), Baldzicki in eighth (8.8) and Mathison in 10th (8.725).

On the vault, Baldzicki ended up third (9.05), while sophomore Tori Blair was seventh (8.45). Senior Doris Mor was ninth (8.15) and sophomore Maddie Tschida was 10th (7.95).

"Seleena and Josie had beautiful vaults and floor routines," Kass said. "Kyra did awesome on beam and floor. Kaylie had strong routines on all events, as usual. She is a very consistent performer. Madi did great on beam and bars."

The Section 2AA meet is Feb. 16 at Lakeville South. The winning team makes the state field, along with the top four individuals in all four events, as well as the all-around.

The field is very strong with the likes of No. 3-ranked Lakeville North leading the way, along with No. 7 Lakeville South.

Chaska, Chanhassen, Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Kennedy and New Prague are also in the field.
