The Prior Lake boys swimming team finished strong in the South Suburban Conference waters.

The No. 10-ranked Lakers won their final two league duals — 92-89 at home over Lakeville South Feb. 2 and 97-87 at Eastview Feb. 5 — to finish 7-2 in conference action.

Prior Lake will turn its attention to the Section 2AA meet, which starts Feb. 21 with the prelims and ends Feb. 23 with the finals. Diving is Feb. 22 and all three days are at Hidden Oaks Middle School in Prior Lake.

Section 2AA is loaded with the likes of No. 1 Minnetonka, No. 4 Eden Prairie and No. 6 Shakopee. Chaska and Chanhassen swim together in dual meets during the regular season and are ranked No. 2, but they have to split up for the postseason.

Other teams in the field: Burnsville, Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy.

Senior Henry Skinner and junior Sean Dwyer have led the Lakers in the pool all season and will be looking to get back to state in their individual events. Senior P.J. Lenz will also be seeking a return to state in diving to improve on last year's fifth-place finish.

Meanwhile, in the Lakers' win over Eastview, Dwyer won two individual events to lead the way, claiming the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.18 and the 500 freestyle (4:49.78). Skinner was tops in the 100 freestyle (49.82), while Lenz won diving with 262.45 points.

Senior Lucas Pearson also had an individual win, claiming the 100 butterfly (56.00).

Prior Lake won both freestyle relays. The winning 200 team included Skinner, seniors Benjamin Johnson and Spencer Will, sophomore Jaden Chant (1:34.53), while the winning 400 team consisted of Chant, Dwyer, senior Jeremy Kalinowski and eighth-grader Malcolm Jones (3:25.81).

Individual runner-up finishes for the Lakers went to: Jones in the 200 freestyle (1:53.53), Skinner in the 50 freestyle (22.64), Will in the 100 butterfly (58.27), junior Erik Thompson in diving (237.50), Kalinowski in the 100 backstroke (59.16) and ninth-grader Tyler Buss in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.03).

In beating Lakeville South, the Lakers won eight events with Buss getting two first places. He won the 200 freestyle (1:58.35) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.69).

Dwyer claimed the 50 freestyle (21.93), while Skinner won the 500 freestyle (5:20.93) and Pearson was tops in the 100 butterfly (54.44). Jones won the 100 backstroke (1:00.41), while Lenz won diving (264.80).

The 400 freestyle relay team of Pearson, Chant, Johnson and Skinner was also a winner (3:29.94).

Individual second-place finishes went to: Nicholas Archambault in the 100 backstroke (1:02.79), Jones in the 100 freestyle (51.65), Dwyer in the 100 butterfly (54.49), Thompson in diving (225.45), Skinner in the 50 freestyle (22.21), Chant in the 200 individual medley (2:13.13) and Johnson in the 200 freestyle (1:59.90).
