Ashley George earned her second top-20 finish on the state slopes.

The sophomore on the Prior Lake girls Alpine ski team made her fourth-career appearance Feb. 13 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik and ended up 18th overall with a combined time of 1:16.29 on her two runs.

George skied her first run in 37.60, which had her in 14th place going into the second run. She skied that in 38.69, which was 18th best.

Peyton Servais of Lakeville North was individual state champion with a time of 1:11.18. Lakeville South won the team crown.

Last year, George finished 11th at state. She finished 39th in her first state appearance as a seventh-grader and was 80th as an eighth-grader.

George qualified for state by finishing eighth in the Section 6 meet Feb. 5 at Buck Hill in Burnsville. The top two teams make the state field, along with the top 10 individuals not on the advancing squads.

Next winter, George will try to become the first Prior Lake skier to qualify for five state competitions in her career.
