The Prior Lake girls lacrosse team had little trouble winning its season opener.

Senior Lauren Wick scored five goals and added an assist to lead the No. 2-ranked Lakers to a 20-5 win at No. 4 Blake. Sophomore Payton Bloedow chipped in four goals and an assist for Prior Lake.

Prior Lake has beaten Blake three straight years in the regular season. The perennial power Bears have won six state titles since the inception of girls lacrosse in 2007.

The Lakers are also becoming a perennial power, going 15-1 last year but losing to Apple Valley 13-12 in the Section 6 title game. The Lakers were denied a third straight trip to state.

The Eagles went on to beat Eden Prairie in the title game. Eden Prairie opens the season ranked No. 1 in the state, while Lakeville North is No. 3 and Chanhassen is No. 5.

Prior Lake dominated Blake from start to finish, shutting out the Bears in the second half after leading 13-5 at the break. Senior Grace Mattox was in goal for the Lakers.

Sophomore Mackenzie Salentre scored three goals for Prior Lake while adding an assist. Senior Jacqueline Little had two goals and three assists, sophomore Jade Haugen and two goals and an assist and junior Josie Kropp had a goal and two assists.

Ninth-grader Ryane Kearns and seniors Kelsey Viger and Ashtyn King each scored one goal. Eighth-grader Rachel Ward picked up a pair of assists, while sophomore Kelsey Wick had one.

Prior Lake's home opener is April 18 versus Minnetonka at 7:30 p.m. The Lakers are home to No. 6 Edina April 20 in a battle of Section 6 foes at 4 p.m.

The Lakers will open the South Suburban Conference season April 23 at home versus Shakopee. Prior Lake is also at Lakeville North April 25 in league play. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
