Split On The Conference Diamond For The Lakers

The Prior Lake baseball team earned a split on the South Suburban Conference diamond.

Senior Russ Tanner struck out 10 batters in four shutout innings in the Lakers' 6-0 win at Lakeville South May 4. Prior Lake followed with 10-4 home loss to Rosemount May 6.

The Lakers (9-6 overall, 8-5 in the SSC) is back on the field May 8 at Eagan and is home to Lakeville North May 9 in league games at 4:30 and 6 p.m., respectively.

Prior Lake's final three SSC games to end the regular season are versus Burnsville May 13, versus Lakeville South May 15 and at No. 6-ranked Eastview May 16.

In the win over Lakeville South, the Lakers scored two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings. Tanner and senior Ben Eisenberg combined on a one-hitter. Eisenberg tossed three hitless innings, striking out five.

Junior Austin Gordon finished 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored for Prior Lake. Junior Henry Emmerich also doubled.

Senior Sam Tanner and junior Jonah Hoeg each drove in a run, while senior Jack Murray finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and senior Tyler Kelley was 1 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the loss to Rosemount, it was a 4-4 game going into the sixth inning. The Irish got a run in the sixth and then blew the game open with five more runs in the seventh.

Sophomore Connor Wietgrefe took the loss for the Lakers, allowing a run in 1 1/3 innings. Junior Jett Heinen fanned three, but gave up three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Senior Luke Loring got the final out of the seventh.

Senior AJ Lattery started and lasted 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs (one earned) while fanning four.

Kelley finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs, while Sam Tanner doubled and scored a run. Henry Emmerich and junior Sam Emmerich each had RBIs.
