The Prior Lake girls golf team's scores are improving.

Now the Lakers have to put four good ones together to lower their team total. Junior Sidney Ford led Prior Lake in a South Suburban Conference tournament May 6 at Rich Valley Golf Course.

Ford shot a 83 as the Lakers ended up ninth in the team standings with 383.

Lakeville North won the crown (321), followed by Lakeville South (327), Rosemount (336), Apple Valley (349), Eagan (350), Shakopee (335), Eastview (361) and Burnsville (377). Farmington was 10th (387).

"It was encouraging seeing Sidney go low," Lakers coach Corey Carney said. "Hopefully, this will boost her confidence and there will be more low scores in the future."

Senior Isabel Benson finished with 97 for Prior Lake, followed by junior Zoe Chmielewski (100), junior Britney Maxfield (102), junior Ellen Gandrud (103) and junior Lynh Tran (103).

Prior Lake competed in the Northfield Invitational May 2 at Willingers Golf Club, taking sixth with a team score of 408. Red Wing won the crown (320).

Benson led the Lakers with a 91, followed by Ford (100), senior Charlotte Huntington (106), Chmielewski (111), sophomore Lauren Crosby (125) and Gandrud (126).

Prior Lake was also 10th at the Chaska Invitational April 29 at Hazeltine National Golf Club. The Lakers had a team score of 407 with Benson leading the team with a 90.

Edina won the team crown (325), followed by Chanhassen (329).

Other scores for the Lakers included Ford (100), Huntington (105), Chmielewski (112), Crosby (112) and Tran (115).

Prior Lake is back on the links May 14 in an SSC tourney at Heritage Links Golf Course in Eagan at 9 a.m.
