Next Stop, Semifinals for the Lakers

The Prior Lake boys lacrosse team started fast en route to an easy state quarterfinal win June 11 in Chanhassen.

The second-seeded Lakers scored five goals in the first quarter, including three in the first 4:52 of action, en route to a 12-4 win versus Wayzata. Senior Luke Bloedow led the charge with five goals, including three in the first quarter.

Prior Lake (14-3 overall) will take on third-seeded Eden Prairie (13-3) in the semifinals June 13 in Minnetonka at 3 p.m. The winner will head to the title game June 15 back in Chanhassen at 6 p.m.

Prior Lake is looking to defend its state title and win its third crown in the last four seasons.

In the Lakers' win over Wayzata, junior Conor Miller and senior Riley Bachinski also scored in the first quarter. Prior Lake tallied twice in the first 2:26 of the second quarter to go up 7-0 with Bloedow and senior Nate Whittier scoring.

The Lakers led 7-2 at the break, before scoring three straight goals in the third quarter to lead 10-2 heading into the final frame.

Sophomore Jack Smith scored three goals in the second half for Prior Lake, while Bachinski and Bloedow also scored.

Miller finished with two assists, while seniors Lucas Gratz, Patrick Juell, sophomore Blake Warren, juniors Ryley Bester and Will Gilbert each picked up an assist.

Junior Colin Nauertz finished with six saves in goal for the Lakers.
