Rolling To An Easy Quarterfinal Victory

The Prior Lake girls lacrosse team moved a step closer to the state title game.

Junior Josie Kropp scored four goals and had an assist as the second-seeded Lakers dominated Maple Grove 19-6 in quarterfinal play June 11 in Minnetonka.

Prior Lake (16-1 overall) will take on third-seeded Breck (14-3) in the semifinals June 13 in Chanhassen at 3 p.m. The winner will play for the title June 15 at the same venue at 3:30 p.m.

In beating Maple Grove, the Lakers were never really challenged by the Crimson. Prior Lake led 11-4 at the break and never looked back in the second half.

Senior Lauren Wick finished with three goals and three assists for the Lakers. Senior Jacqueline Little and sophomores Payton Bloedow and Mackenzie Salentre each had three goals and an assist.

Senior Ashtyn King chipped in a goal and two assists, while ninth-grader Josie Wilhelm had a goal and an assist. Senior Kelsey Viger picked up one goal for Prior Lake.

Senior Grace Mattox was in net for the Lakers, finishing with two saves.

The victory was also the Lakers' 15th by double digits this spring. It was the 16th time the team had scored more than 10 goals in a game.
