The Prior Lake boys basketball team's season has ended the last three seasons to Eden Prairie.

In 2019, the Eagles beat the Lakers in the Section 2AAAA title game. Last year, it was in the semifinals, and this season in the quarterfinals, rolling to a 71-45 victory March 16 over the Lakers.

Prior Lake had a tough season finishing with a 4-15 overall record (4-14 in the South Suburban Conference). It was a rebuilding year for the program after losing two players to Division I teams after last winter and two more to Division II programs.

The Lakers trailed Eden Prairie 38-24 and the break and couldn't recover in the second half. Junior Malcolm Jones led Prior Lake with 13 points, while senior Kyle McCullough scored six.

The Lakers will graduate just four seniors, including Tommy Mestnik, Jack Willer and Erik Zender, so there will be talent back next year for the team.

Jones led Prior Lake in scoring at 20.2 points per game. Mestnik was next at 8.6 points, followed by junior Kellan Miller (8.3), McCullough (8.0), Willer (6.3) and junior Kyle Haas (4.9).
