The Prior Lake trap shooting team had three qualify for the Minnesota State High School League State Championships.

Blake Conrad, Caleb Brennan and Gage McCarty will represent the Lakers at state June 24 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.

There are nine classes in trap shooting and the top 100 averages from all the classes through five weeks of shooting make the state field. Prior Lake won Class 9A Conference 1.

Brennan tied for second overall in the conference by hitting an average of 23.80 targets out of 25. Conrad ended up fourth (23.70), followed by Gage McCarty in fifth (23.50). An average of 23.5 made the top 100, which also considered all-state.

In skeet, Prior Lake had two all-state shooters — Conrad and Austin Swan. Prior Lake took second out of nine teams in Class A Conference 3. Conrad took first in conference average (23.90), followed by Swan in fourth (22.20).

The Lakers will compete in the Minnesota Clay Target League State Championships June 12-20 at the Alexandria Shooting Park in Alexandria. There are 7,459 student athletes scheduled to participate.
