Ashely George led the way for the Prior Lake Alpine ski teams Jan. 11.

The ninth-grader finished third overall for the Laker girls in a seven-team competition at Buck Hill in Burnsville, finishing with a time of 51.22 on her two runs.

The Lakers were also third in the team standings with 373 points. Eden Prairie was first (455), followed by Lakeville North (450). Wayzata was fourth (369), followed by Hopkins (354), Eagan (345) and Eastview (223).

On the boys side, senior Jake Strait led the Lakers finishing sixth overall with a time of 52.68. Prior Lake ended up fifth in the team standings with 293 points.

Eden Prairie won (395), followed by Wayzata (376), Eagan (370) and Hopkins (355). Lakeville North was sixth (278), followed by Eastvew (170).

Both Laker teams are back on the slopes Jan. 18 at Buck Hill at 3:45 p.m. The Buck Hill Invitational is the next day at 9 a.m.

Last year, George and Strait represented the Lakers at the state meet.

Senior Michelle Iwen was the Prior Lake girls' next-best finisher at the Jan. 11 competition, finishing 13th (57.13), while junior Alexis Jacobson was 18th (58.39) and senior Carly Brosious took 28th (64.88).

Other finishes for the girls: eighth-grader Meg May (33rd, 65.98), senior Ella Bentley (44th, 70.67), senior Ella Johnson (48th, 73.56), senior Hannah Seifert (52nd, 75.90), ninth-grader Sofie Hansen (58th, 78.17), sophomore Sophie Gannon (62nd, 82.32), senior Rachel Lee (76th) and senior Sophie Johnson (82nd).

On the boys side, senior Will Schult and ninth-grader Josh Carlson were in the top 20, taking 17th (58.88) and 19th (59.37), respectively, while junior Jordan Albright was 31st (66.13).

Other finishes: sophomore Tristan Gilpatric (38th, 68.02), eighth-grader Sam Foltz (50th, 73.45), eighth-grader Zander Leining (57th, 77.95), junior Jake Walter (61st, 80.34), seventh-grader Charley Wroblewski (64th, 83.84), ninth-grader Jackson Pettes (65th, 87.35) and senior Grant Maxfield (76th).
