The Prior Lake girls soccer team is starting to find more wins.

The Lakers earned a 1-0 South Suburban Conference victory at Shakopee Sept. 18 and had a 3-2 home win over Chaska Sept. 15 in a battle of Section 2AA foes.

The Lakers (3-6-1 overall, 2-3 in the SSC) is back on the field Sept 20 at home to Farmington in league play at 7:30 p.m. The Lakers are at Chanhassen Sept. 22 in a battle of section teams at 1 p.m.

Prior Lake follows playing home to Burnsville Sept. 25 and at Apple Valley Sept. 27 in league games at 5:30 and 7 p.m., respectively. The Lakers end the regular season at Rosemount Oct. 2 in SSC action at 5 p.m.

A strong finish could net the Lakers a home playoff game in the Section 2AA quarterfinals, which start Oct. 9. Top-ranked Edina (6-2-1) is looking like the No. 1 seed, followed by No. 4 Minnetonka (7-2).

Eden Prairie (4-2-1) also figures to be a top four seed. Others teams in the field: Bloomington Jefferson (4-3-2), Chaska (3-4-3), Chanhassen (3-3-3) and Shakopee (2-6-1).

The Lakers are 2-2 against section squads so far with their two losses to Edina and Eden Prairie.

In beating Shakopee, junior Katarina Decaroli earned the shutout for the Lakers, making eight saves. Junior Calyn Schanzenbach had Prior Lake's goal, tallying in the first half.

In beating Chaska, sophomores Kate Trachsel and Abby Williams and Schanzenbach scored for Prior Lake. Trachsel and Schanzenbach also had assists. Decaroli finished with eight saves.

Prior Lake is hoping to make some noise in the section playoffs. It lost last year in the quarterfinals to Chanhassen and was eliminated in the semifinals the year before at Minnetonka.

Prior Lake played for the section title in both 2013 and 2014, falling 1-0 to Eden Prairie both times. The Lakers have a 1-8 postseason record against Lake Conference teams since 2005.
