The Prior Lake cross country teams moved up the ranks Sept. 13 at the Hutchinson Invitational.

Sophomore Gabe Smit had a strong showing for the Laker boys, finishing runner-up on the 5,000-meter Lake Marion course with a time of 16:35.6.

The boys team finished second out of 12 schools in the team standings with 75 points. Seventh-ranked Buffalo won the title (40), while Willmar ended up third (110) and Mankato East was fourth (119).
