Sweep For Spikers On The Conference Road

The Prior Lake volleyball team got back to even in the South Suburban Conference Sept. 27.

Ninth-grader Julia Hanson and junior Dezi Spratt powered the Lakers to a home sweep over Apple Valley (25-20, 25-19, 25-10). Hanson finished with 16 kills, while Spratt had 10.

The Lakers (9-10 overall) improved to 3-3 in the SSC and will be back on the league court Oct. 2 at Rosemount at 7 p.m.

Prior Lake will stay on the road Oct. 9 taking on Shakopee in SSC play at 7 p.m. The Sabers are also a Section 2AAA foe and beat the Lakers in three sets in the Eagle Invitational in Apple Valley Sept. 22 (15-25, 25-12, 16-14).

In beating Apple Valley, sophomore Camille Libert finished with eight kills for Prior Lake, while junior Rachel Ring and Kaitlin Becker ended up with six and five kills, respectively.

Senior Katie Brostrom led in set assists with 18, while sophomore Lainey VanHecke had 14. Spratt led the way behind the service line with three aces and in total digs with 17.

Senior Hannah Skroch had 12 digs, while Brostrom and senior Paige Benson both had eight. VanHecke had six digs and Hanson had five. Ring led in blocks with two.
