Second Straight Road Setback For The Lakers

The Prior Lake girls basketball team dropped its second straight South Suburban Conference game.

The Lakers dropped to 2-4 overall (1-2 in league play) with a 66-58 loss at Shakopee Dec. 18. The Sabers held senior guard McKenna Hofschild to a season-low 16 points.

Prior Lake went into the contest losing 70-57 at Apple Valley Dec. 14.

The Lakers led Shakopee 30-28 at the break, but the Sabers controlled the second half. Sophomore Kate Trachsel was also in double figures for the Lakers with 10 points.

Junior Ella Schnackenberg chipped in eight points for Prior Lake, while senior Lexi Wiskow and junior Haidyn Pitsch each scored seven. Sophomore Emily Kulstad and senior Reagan Dahl both had four points.

Shakopee is also a Section 2AAAA foe. So is No. 9-ranked Eden Prairie, the Lakers' next opponent, which will be at home Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. Prior Lake is 2-0 on its home floor and 0-4 off of it. 

The Lakers will close out 2018 in the Holiday Hoops Classic at St. Olaf College in Northfield Dec. 27-29. Prior Lake will play Visitation the first day, followed by Northfield and Grand Rapids, respectively.
