The Prior Lake girls hockey team suffered a pair of tough home defeats with the playoffs right around the corner.

The Lakers fell 3-0 to Rosemount Jan. 26 and lost 9-1 versus Eagan Jan. 24 in two South Suburban Conference games.

Prior Lake (4-19 overall, 2-14 in the SSC) will end the regular season on the conference road, playing at Shakopee Jan. 31 and at Apple Valley Feb. 2 at 7 and 2 p.m., respectively.

Seeds for Section 2AA come out Feb. 3 and the Lakers will be in the No. 8 spot. Sixth-ranked Eden Prairie will get the No. 1 seed and will likely host Prior Lake in the quarterfinals Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

Minnetonka (11-10-1), Shakopee (12-10-1), Chaska/Chanhassen (15-6), Holy Family (15-6-2), New Prague (13-8-2) and Bloomington Jefferson (11-10-1) are also in the field.

The semifinals are Feb. 12 and the title game is set for Feb. 15 and both of those rounds are at Braemer Ice Arena in Edina.

Last year, Prior Lake lost to Eden Prairie in the semifinals. The Eagles went on to beat Shakopee in the title game.

In the loss to Eagan, Prior Lake trailed 1-0 after the first period and fell behind 4-1 after two frames. Eagan exploded for five goals in the third period to put the Lakers away.

Junior Kya Ochsendorf scored the Lakers' goal with senior Charlotte Huntington and junior Paige Pavlish getting the assists.

Junior Brianna Elbon made 18 saves in goal. She had 25 stops in the loss to Rosemount. It was the seventh shutout loss for the Lakers.
