Back In The Pack On The Conference Slopes

The Prior Lake Alpine ski teams were back in the pack on the South Suburban Conference slopes Jan. 24.

The Laker boys were sixth in the team standings with 162 points, while the girls squad was seventh with 266 points. 

Lakeville North won the girls crown (433), followed by Lakeville South (363), Apple Valley/Rosemount (356), Eagan (326), Eastview (324) and Burnsville (309). Visitation was eighth (259).

On the boys side, Lakeville South was in the top spot (356), followed by Eagan (310), Burnsville (297), Lakeville North (220) and Rosemount (199). Eastview was seventh (122).

The SSC Championships are set for Jan. 31 at Buck Hill at 4 p.m. The Section 6 race is Feb. 5 at the same venue at 9 a.m.

Junior Ashley George will be seeking her fifth straight state berth for the Laker girls. She missed the team's last two competitions, but came back strong Jan. 24 with a third-place finish overall.

George had a combined time of 47.94 on her two runs.

Senior Alexis Jacobson was 21st (61.88) for the girls team, while ninth-grader Emma Gannon took 24th (63.20).

Other finishes for the girls: junior Sophie Gannon (41st, 68.14), ninth-grader Abby Warmhoff (59th, 75.96), junior Lily Bensko (62nd, 78.63), ninth-grader Meg May (63rd, 78.77), sophomore Daphne Adkins (71st, 88.61), sophomore Jade Haugen (72nd, 89.71) and sophomore Sofie Hansen (73rd, 92.19).

For the Prior Lake boys, ninth-grader Sam Foltz led the team taking 25th (60.61), while seventh-grader Blake Stout was 29th (61.78). Senior Jake Walter finished 33rd (63.08), while seventh-grader Braden Deboer ended up 36th (65.35).

Other finishes: ninth-grader Zander Leining (43rd, 69.01), eighth-grader Charley Wroblewski (45th, 70.51), ninth-grader Avi Neumann (47th, 71.13), sophomore Rafe Walter (50th, 74.45), sophomore Jackson Pettes (56th, 83.87) and sophomore Josh Carlson (59th).
