Big Splashes In The Conference Dual Pool

The Prior Lake boys swimming climbed back to the .500 mark in the South Suburban Conference pool

The Lakers won two of three relays to earn a 93-90 home win over Eastview Feb. 1. Senior Sean Dwyer captured two individual events for Prior Lake.

The Lakers (4-4 in the SSC) will end the regular season Feb. 5 at Burnsville in SSC dual action at 6 p.m.

The Section 2AA meet follows with the prelims Feb. 20 and the finals Feb. 22. Diving is Feb. 21 and all three days are at Pioneer Ridge Middle School in Chaska.

The field is strong with the likes of No. 2 Minnetonka, No. 5 Eden Prairie, No. 6 Chaska/Chanhassen and No. 8 Shakopee in the field, along with Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Kennedy and Burnsville.

In beating Eastview, the Lakers' 200 freestyle relay team of juniors Owen Mattila and Jaden Chant and seniors Trey Hirt and Sean Dwyer won with a time of 1:33.17. The 400 freestyle squad of Chant, Mattila and sophomores Tyler Buss and Gunnar Anderson was also victorious (3:28.22).

Dwyer won both the 100 freestyle (48.04) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.92) for the Lakers, while Mattila was tops in the 50 freestyle (23.37). Senior Erik Thompson claimed the diving competition with 256.95 points.

Second-place finishes for the Lakers went to: senior Bryce Beske in the 200 individual medley (2:17.35), Buss in the 50 freestyle (23.64) and the 500 freestyle (5:21.85), sophomore Nicholas Archambault in the 100 butterfly (58.51) and the 200 medley team of Archambault, Buss, Anderson and Dwyer (1:46.05).
