The Prior Lake gymnastics team kept its state streak alive.

Lydia Pavek will be representing the Lakers at the Class AA state competition Feb. 23 at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion at 6 p.m. The sophomore qualified on the vault in the Section 2AA meet at the New Prague Gymnastics Club Feb. 15.

Prior Lake has had at least one gymnast qualify for state in the last eight seasons. The winning team makes the state field. The top three in the all-around also qualify, along with the top three in the four individual events, not including the three all-around finishers.

Pavek finished sixth on the vault with a score of 9.150, grabbing the final state spot. She'll be making her first-career state appearance.

The Lakers finished fourth in the team standings with a season-best score of 136.875. Sixth-ranked Lakeville North won the title (148.950), followed by Lakeville South (139.575) and New Prague (138.075).

Chaska/Chanhassen was fifth (133.950), followed by Bloomington Jefferson (131.700).

In 2013, the Lakers competed at state as a team, winning the Section 2AA crown and then finishing seventh at state. This year's state team competition is Feb. 22 at the Sports Pavilion.

Prior Lake had three in the top 10 on the vault at sections. Eighth-grader Alex Burger was eighth (8.950), while ninth-grader Avery Wild took 10th (8.750).

Eighth-grader Terin Block led the Lakers on the uneven bars finishing 10th (8.450). Pavek was ninth on the balance beam (8.750), while ninth-grader Kylie Thompson tied for 10th (8.600) and Block tied for 11th (8.575).

On the floor exercise, Thompson led the Lakers tying for ninth place (8.975), while junior Maddie Tschida was 10th (8.900) and seventh-grader Brooke Thompson was 12th (8.775).

In the all-around, Kylie Thompson finished eighth (33.500) for the Lakers, while Block was 14th (25.375).
