The Prior Lake wrestling team continues to build with the postseason in focus.

The No. 8-ranked Lakers welcomed back senior Tyler Hanson to the lineup Jan. 29 in a 47-21 South Suburban Conference dual win at home over Lakeville North.

Hanson has missed all season due to arm injury suffered during the football season in the fall. He was a state qualifier last year at 132 pounds and played a big part in helping Prior Lake finish a school-best second in the Class 3A state team tourney.

Hanson earned an 8-3 decision at 152 pounds in the win over Lakeville North.

Earning falls for the Lakers were: ninth-grader Curtis LeMair at 106, ninth-grader Theo Smith at 120, senior Rylee Streifel at 220 and senior Alex Hart at heavyweight.

Other wins: ninth-grader Zach Smith at 113 (14-4), senior Dylan Sogge at 132 (3-2), junior Wyatt Benson at 138 (11-0), ninth-grader Kenny O'Neil at 145 (20-5) and junior Sam Brunkow at 170 (16-6).

The Lakers (15-7 overall) will compete in the Anoka Duals Jan. 31 starting at 9 a.m. The field is strong with the likes of No. 3 Willmar, No. 5 Hastings, No. 6 St. Francis and the No. 9 host Tornadoes.

Prior Lake will close out the SSC and regular season Feb. 6 at No. 10 Lakeville South at 6 p.m. The winner will likely be the No. 2 seed in Section 2AAA behind No. 4 Shakopee, while the loser looks to be the third seed.

The Lakers (6-2 in the SSC) are vying for a fifth straight Section 2AAA title.
