There's no slowing down the Prior Lake girls basketball team.

The Lakers tied a season-high in points Feb. 24, rolling to a 91-64 South Suburban Conference win at Apple Valley.

It was Prior Lake's fourth straight win and six in its last seven games. That's a good sign with the Section 2AAAA playoffs right around the corner.

Prior Lake (15-10 overall, 9-8 in the SSC) was supposed to close out the regular season Feb. 27 at home versus Rosemount in league play, but the game was cancelled.

Rosemount has already reached the maximum of 26 games played. Section 2AAAA seeds come out the next day and are based solely on QRF rankings, which can be found atwww.minnesota-scores.net.

Ninth-ranked Shakopee (17-8) and No. 8 Chanhassen (19-6) will be the top-two seeds. The Lakers are looking good for a top-four seed, which would give them a home game in the quarterfinals.

Prior Lake has never had a home playoff game as a Class 4A program, which dates back to the 2003-04 season.

Chaska (14-11), Lakeville South (12-13) and Bloomington Jefferson (14-10) are also fighting for a top-four seed. Burnsville (5-20) and Bloomington Kennedy (7-17) will be the bottom two seeds.

Quarterfinal play starts March 4. The semifinals are March 7 and the title game is March 12 and both are at Apple Valley High School.

Meanwhile, in the win over Apple Valley, the Lakers swept the season series. The Lakers won a close 64-63 game back on Jan. 23. In the rematch, Prior Lake started to pull away late in the first half

The Lakers led 22-18 after the first seven minutes, but ended the first half on a 21-12 run for a 43-30 lead. Prior Lake was up 66-45 with 11 minutes to play.

Senior Sam McElwain led the way for the Lakers with 24 points. Sophomore Riley Wheatcraft added 19 points, followed by senior Shaye Barton with 18 and junior Michelle Lother with 17.

Others scoring: eighth-grader McKenna Hofschild (5), sophomore Brooke Glass (5), senior Sophie Peterson (2) and sophomore Cassandra Herubin (1).
