Lakers' Focus Now Shifts To The Routines Season

The Prior Lake synchronized swimming team's attention is now on its routines.

The Lakers ended the figures portion of their regular season April 12 in a triangular meet at St. Louis Park. Prior Lake lost 29-0 to the host Orioles and fell 15-14 to Blake.

The Lakers' first routines meet is April 18 at home versus St. Louis Park at 5 p.m. The next three are at Bloomington on April 23 at 4:30 p.m., home to Richfield on April 26 at 5 p.m. and at Blake on May 2 at 4:30 p.m.

Prior Lake's annual Dolphin Show to end the regular season is May 10.

In the triangular meet, junior Emma Gahlin had the Lakers' best score finishing 14th with a 58.259 total. Junior Marissa Broughten took 15th (57.974), followed by sophomore Sarah McDonald in 16th (57.890) and senior Lauryn Baumer in 19th (56.868).

"The girls swam well, and we ended the figures part of the season in good shape," Lakers coach Katy Bohnsack said.

The West Section Meet is set for May 11 and May 18 at Edina View South Middle School and Hopkins North Junior High School respectively.

The state competition is May 23-24 at the Rochester Recreation Center. Wayzata has won the last 12 state crowns. The Lakers were sixth in the team standings last spring.
